Hannah's new top...

Due to an unseasonally warm winter week, I've been inspired to craft a new summer top for Hannah. (made from a vintage childrens pattern). This is actually a dress for a 2 year old, but fits my two year old perfectly as a top. The pocket is a gorgeous patch from some thrifted vintage childrens fabric.

I was fortunate enough to pick up two identical sheets of the yellow fabric. The pale blue fabric was one of those lucky treasures, you grab onto with a racing pulse and head straight to pay for it, for fear that it will somehow vanish before your eyes....

Toddler crafting...

Today we started the week off with some potato painting fun. This idea came from the Golden Hands craft magazines I thrifted last week, and was a real hit with the littlies (we'll definately be doing this one again) - cheap, cheerful, quick and surprisingly not too messy which is obviously always a good thing with toddlers...plus it kept them quiet - nice!!

Ok, so no prizes for picking the common theme here, I didn't even realise everything was orange until I got it all home...Favourites would definately be the orange/charcoal crochet lap blanket, very very sweet. I'm also loving the handmade beanie on Hannah's head, which is a perfect fit (I actually picked up a blue one too). Gorgeous orange (there's that word again) lace, apron, fabric and ball of wool. But the favourite of all are the shoes, exactly my size, unworn .... and ....only $5... Funnily I had spied an identical green pair in a magazine sometime ago, and have been on a green shoe hunt ever since.  I'm still looking for green, but am thrilled to have the orange pair now

Onwards and upwards I also found an entire catalogue of Golden Hands CRAFT magazines, in a white folder. As well as a whole heap of regular Golden Hands magazines individually. All this vintage crafting goodness is a bit overwhelming actually, I don't know what to start with first. The pictures inside are so wonderfully, very very seventies!! - and lastly a fresh lime woollen jumper...happiness!!

An olifant for Mia too...

Here's my little Mia, pictured with the little 'pink' olifant she asked me to make her...It's so sweet when they ask you to make them something...this one has been a real hit with her, behind her, is my little Hannah making sure the (not handmade by me lion) gets to have his picture taken too...so cute!!

Thats it, quick one today...yesterday I went for an Op-shop adventure and scored quite well, so I will do a nice op-shop post of my goodies tommorow.

Another softie for mirabel...Doris

Today I decided to make another softie for mirabel, so Doris will be making her way along with Jemima later this week. Here is Doris, she is wearing an apron, so I guess this means she likes to cook...she is also wearing shorts, so I guess that means she's also cold (considering It's winter here, and an even colder winter where she is going - Melbourne)

Olifant for baby M...

My best friend recently gave birth to the cutest little bubba, whom I finally met last week...such a sweet little angel...as is her gorgeous toddler who is growing up so fast...here is a little sleeping olifant I made for her little one, and matching singlet too...I'd like to get a few of these up in my shop soon, one thing at a time, at the moment, I'm still settling into my new blog home. The fabric I used here is the most beautiful vintage childrens fabric...It's absolutely my favourite fabric ever, and I felt the pain as I cut into it. Is anyone else this fearful of chopping into their favourites?

little singlet...

Don't give up your day job...

Especially....if like me, you have a habit of spending twice the amount of your allocated budget at the craftfair...Still.. . was so much fun, I know you can buy all of these lovely fabrics online, but there is just something special about being able to wander around and see them all up close. Anyway I picked up some gorgeous yummy scrumptious fabric, so now all I have to work on, is my fear of hacking into it.

I've also found a renewed zest for embroidery, thought it would be fun to try beading, and have tried to start convincing myself into attempting a quilt. I've wanted to do a quilt for ages actually, the only thing stopping me, is I crave quick projects with an almost sort of compulsion, prefering to start and wrap up something fairly quickly before losing that initial wave of enthusiasm. The other thing, is knowing that once I've managed to finish one, I then have to start round two, for the second child...surely can't be alone with this ... 

Jemima...

This is jemima, named by my little Mia, probably after the playschool character, as we watch alot of playschool in this house these days. Jemima is off to join her friends at the softies for Mirabel cause. She is wearing a dress made of thrifted vintage fabric, which is personally one of my favourites. I'm loving the mustard and olive green in this one.

On the craft front, The quilt and craft show is on at Darling Harbour this week. I'm loving the excuse to go and play amongst all those beautiful fat quarters. Hopefully I can bring a few home with me, if the budget stretches...

Pizza Time...

So today, we started out with a turf war over the tv stations in our house. In the red corner we had my youngest Hannah insistent on the morning ABC Kids schedule. Whilst in the blue we had my older child, Mia, determined to start the day with yet another rendition of Charlie and the chocolate factory - again. It wasn't pretty, but it was definately understandable. Especially considering that today made day five of being confined within the walls of our house.  In part due to the wonderful sydney weather that we have been fortunate enough to receive (read torrential). but mostly due to our car deciding that this week was a great one to break down. In any case, 5 days housebound with two busy toddlers hasn't been easy.

It was with this in mind that we decided to do some cooking for our craft time today, and the suggestion of pizza was met with enthusiastic Yayyyy's so pizza it was...

so here we are, the girls busy stiring the pot

and then the really good part, pizza yumminess just in time for lunch...mmmm

All in all, a good day for us here, and especially as it is friday and the promise of a long weekend awaits us...happy weekend everyone!!

Softies for Mirabel...

Today I have been busy putting together a little doll for this wonderful cause. She still needs an outfit, so she won't be ready to go just yet. The girls both decided that she was a pirate and that she needs to be wearing a dress. Sounds good to me.
